On the Ridge at Godfrey: What Your Roof Is Up Against
Godfrey takes its name from a person, not a landmark. The community was named after Dr. Ervine Godfrey, a pioneer settler, and a post office called Godfrey opened in 1889 and stayed in operation until 1965.
Today Godfrey is an unincorporated community and census-designated place. The Census Bureau listed it as a village from 1910 through 1960, and it came back onto the Census map as a CDP in 2020. The whole place covers about 1.1 square miles.
Finding it on a map is simple, and Godfrey Road does most of the explaining. Take Godfrey Road about 12 miles south of Madison and you're there. Keep going on the same road and it runs another 13 miles south to Eatonton. Godfrey's southern edge follows the Putnam County line, so the community sits right at the bottom of Morgan County.
The ground tells you something too. Godfrey sits on a ridge. Rain that falls on the west side runs toward the Little River, and rain on the east side heads to Big Indian Creek, which feeds the Little River. From there the water continues south to the Oconee River, north of Milledgeville. The Little River itself is about 62 miles long. It rises in Walton County near Social Circle, flows southeast, and joins the Oconee in Lake Sinclair.
Why bring up a ridge on a roofing page? Because exposure matters. A house up on high ground with nothing around it takes plenty of sun and wind, while a house tucked into trees deals with shade and damp. Either way, the shingles feel it.
Then there's the heat. NOAA's Georgia climate summary says that across the southern two-thirds of the state, summer days are warm and humid, with highs above 90 degrees on most days and reaching 100 during most years, and that moist Gulf air brings frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Over many summers, that kind of weather wears on an asphalt roof.
Nights don't always bring much relief either. The same NOAA summary notes that summer temperatures usually drop only to the middle or low 70s, or a little below 70, by early morning. The state climate summary from NCICS adds that thunderstorms are common in Georgia, particularly in spring and summer, and often bring heavy rain. Winters, by contrast, are short and usually mild.
So what do we actually do about it? Exactly one job: spray-on rejuvenation for asphalt shingles. Our products are HRX by Armovex and Roof Shield, and either one is sprayed directly over your current shingles. No tear-off, no patching, no new roof. If the roof is past the point where a coating makes sense, we'll tell you so.
Before anything is sprayed, somebody from our team walks the roof. Are the tabs flat? Any cracks, curled edges, or pieces working loose? Is one slope baking while the other stays mossy? You'll get a straight yes or no on whether rejuvenation is worth it for your house.

Common Questions
Do you really come out to a small place like Godfrey?
We do. Godfrey is in southern Morgan County, between Madison and Eatonton on Godfrey Road. Call (470) 541-5423 and we'll set a time.
Our house is out in the open with no shade. Is sun the bigger problem then?
Full sun means the roof takes all of Georgia's summer heat, and NOAA's Georgia summary puts summer highs above 90 on most days across the southern two-thirds of the state. That ages shingles over time. Rejuvenation fits roofs that are worn but still intact.
Can you give me an idea of timing before you come out?
Not a reliable one. It depends on the roof's size and pitch and the weather. We'll give you an estimate once we've seen it.
What would make you say no to my roof?
Active leaks, soft spots in the decking, or a lot of missing or broken shingles. In that case spraying isn't the right call and we'll tell you.
Serving homeowners across southern Morgan County, protecting roofs against direct southern sunlight and seasonal rain moisture shifts.

How
Rebuilds Asphalt Shingles from Within
Over time, solar heat bakes the petrochemical oils out of asphalt shingles, making them brittle and dry.
replaces those core oils and coats the exterior in a protective shell.
Restores Flexibility
HRX bio-oils deeply penetrate shingle layers to replace evaporated asphalt oils. Shingles regain pliable elasticity, allowing them to expand and contract with temperature shifts without cracking.
Increases Granular Adhesion
Granules shield asphalt from sunlight. HRX acts as a clear binder that locks ceramic granules firmly into place, preventing gutter granule loss and shingle bald spots.
Superior UV Protection
Contains UV reflectors and polymer stabilizers that absorb radiation before it degrades shingle fibers, keeping attic temperatures cooler and extending roof life by 5 to 15 years.
Hydrophobic Moisture Barrier
Repels rain, dew, and frost. Stops micro-fissures from soaking up water during rainstorms, eliminating winter freeze-thaw cracking cycles.
Eco-Friendly Low VOC Formula
Water-based, non-toxic formula that cures safely without heavy odors. Safe for landscaping, pets, and children while diverting tons of shingle waste from landfills.
5-Gallon Commercial Coating Specifications
Formulated for precision spray rigs, HRX is engineered to saturate asphalt matrix within 30 minutes and dry to a clear, satin protective film.
